Robert Lewis Knecht
the filmmaker and adventurer
affectionately known as "Chewie"
Robert Lewis Knecht was inducted into the Explorers Club in 1994 as a Fellow National.  His first
expedition was in 1988 as the medical officer and photojournalist for the O.R.C.A. Project which
was searching for a whaling ship which sank in 1897, 250 miles inside the Arctic Circle.  Soon
after, he joined Fismer's team as documentary producer.

And when he wasn't filming treasure discoveries, he was treasure hunting.  His most recent
documentary adventure was filming the
H.E.A.T. (Historical Explorations and Treasures)
Expedition for nine months in the Superstition Mountains as they searched for the legendary and
elusive
Lost Dutchman Gold Mine.  As an award-winning cameraman and producer, his work has
appeared on numerous network affiliates, PBS, Discovery Channel, TLC, Sci-Fi Channel, ESPN2,
Speedvision and several U.K. networks, including SkyTV.
